The doctors at Fountain Square Animal Clinic are highly trained and experienced professionals. They work side by side with some of the best and caring support staff in the industry to give you and your pets the best medical care. Compassion and concern for your pets’ safety, comfort, and well-being are our top priorities.

The entire team at Fountain Square Animal Clinic has a tremendous desire to meet the amazing people who call Downtown Indianapolis their home. We want to be your neighborhood veterinarians. Fountain Square Animal Clinic is part of City Way Animal Clinics, a small group of veterinary care and pet grooming practices that are 100% veterinarian-owned and operated. Our current locations include Fountain Square Animal Clinic, Mass Ave Animal Clinic, Fall Creek Place Animal Clinic, and Furr Pet Spa & Wellness, all located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis.

Meet our team

DR. KURT PHILLIPS
CEO, Chief Medical Director, Veterinarian

Education:
Butler University, B.S. in Biology, 1992
Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, DVM, 1996

Personal + Professional:
Dr. Phillips has been a veterinarian since 1996, a veterinary clinic owner since 2000, and owner of City Way Animal Clinics since 2012. His special interests include canine reproduction and English bulldogs. When he’s not working, he’s reading up on entrepreneurship, business, and how to craft an excellent cocktail. He enjoys traveling, live music, and good food.

Loves of his Life:
Kurt and his wife, Julia, have two awesome kids, Emma and Jude. They’re empty nesters now, but are still busy taking care of their two dog-kids, Jenner (Vizsla) and Lexington “Lex” (French Bulldog).

KEN CLARKE
Practice Director

Education:
Indiana University, Kinesiology, 2009 – 2011

Personal + Professional:
Ken brought his passion for health and animals to City Way Animal Clinics in 2011 as a veterinary technician, and has risen through the ranks to our leadership team. He has a passion for community outreach, team culture, and animal wellness. When Ken isn’t making sure things are running smoothly at our clinics, he’s focused on molding a healthy lifestyle. He has a passion for physical and mental health, and you can often find him at the gym.

Loves of his Life:
Ken and his husband, Mark, shower their love and affection on their only French Bulldog child, Augi.

DR. NICOLE VANDELEEST
Associate Veterinarian

Education:
Purdue University, B.S. in Animal Sciences, 2009
Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, 2013

Personal + Professional:
Dr. VanDeLeest brought her expertise and compassion to City Way Animal Clinics in 2015. She has a special interest in feline medicine and surgery. She enjoys winning in trivia and exploring Indy. When she’s not treating her patients, she’s traveling, baking, or watching sports. (Go Purdue!)

Loves of her Life:
Nicole and her husband, Bill, are both veterinarians. They have a rowdy family of three fur-babies, Rosie (Yellow Lab); Annie (three-legged Lab/Chow/Pit mix); and Elby (cute orange cat and queen of the castle).

DR. PATRICIA (PATTI) NEYENHAUS
Associate Veterinarian

Education:
Butler University, B.S. in Biology, 1999
Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, DVM, 2004

Personal + Professional:
Dr. Neyenhaus came to City Way Animal Clinics in 2018 and has been a veterinarian since 2004. She is full of knowledge, with years of experience at emergency, specialty, and general practice clinics under her belt. Her special interests include internal medicine, pain management, and client education. She loves being outside, especially hiking, camping, and organic gardening. She enjoys reading, making cookies, and cheering on her kids at sporting events.

Loves of her Life:
Patti and her husband Ryan have three kids and four furry companions. Hagrid (Goldendoodle); two cats, Gryffin (short for Gryffindor) and Hufflepuff; and their guinea pig, Violet make their house a home. Violet will be getting a sister friend soon!

Indy Favorites:
Previously a South and East-sider, Dr. Neyenhaus loves getting reacquainted with downtown Indy.

TONI M.
Lead Registered Veterinary Technician

Education:
Harrison College, Associates in Veterinary Technology, 2013

Personal + Professional:
Toni has been getting it done at City Way Animal Clinics since 2016. When she’s not spending time with her family around the dinner table, she’s outside with her dogs, or enjoying a nice glass of wine. Toni enjoys cooking, sewing, healing crystals, traveling, and margaritas. She is especially passionate about medicine and animals.

Loves of her Life:
Toni’s family includes her boyfriend, Dexter; his two boys, Dexter II and Josiah; and their dogs. Jasmine (Terrier/Shih Tzu mix) runs the place and Simba (Collie mix) is along for the ride – they’re best buds!

Catherine came to City Way Animal Clinics in 2015, and has been working in the veterinary field since 2011. When she’s not talking to you on the phone, she’s horseback riding, traveling, and spoiling her four-legged bestie.

Luna (Husky/Collie mix) has been Catherine’s fur baby since 2009, and no one gets each other like they do. #bestfriendgoals

Amber brought her love for all creatures to City Way Animal Clinics in 2019. When she’s not at the clinic, she’s singing, listening to music, and hanging out around Indy. She loves traveling, camping, and nature.

Loves of her Life:
Amber and her partner, Rebecca, take care of a small zoo together! Their dogs Jersey (Pointer mix), Daisy (Pitbull mix), Slim (Lab mix), and Chance (Lab mix) share a home with their four cats, Milo, Neko, Maverick, and Goose. Oh, and don’t forget the two geckos, Mac and Aroni!

Personal + Professional:
Jess has been cool, calm, and collected at City Way Animal Clinics since 2016 and has been vet assisting since 2010. When she’s not playing Dungeons and Dragons or making chainmaille jewelry, she’s reading and practicing photography. Jess is a renowned pizza snob who enjoys music, shopping for vinyls, and exploring downtown.

Loves of her Life:
Jess misses her family in New Jersey, but makes up for it with kitten snuggles and reptiles. Her four cats Min, Remy, Cleo, and Hailey keep her on her toes! She also has two tortoises, Six and Sweet Pea; and one bearded dragon named Drogo.

Sara brought her love for pets to City Way Animal Clinics in 2017, and has worked in the veterinary field since 2009. When Sara’s not working at the clinic, she’s studying or doing mom things. When she finds some free time, she likes to read, hike, swim, shop and color.

Sara and her boyfriend, Dathan, have two kids, Rosie and Kyler. Their animal babies consist of three cats, Boogey, Charger, and Juggernaut; Domo (“Dorkie” aka Dachshund/Yorkie mix); and Khaleesi (Mastiff/Pitbull mix).

Personal + Professional:
Lauren brought her love for animals to City Way Animal Clinic in 2018 but has wanted to work in the veterinary field since she was a kid. When she’s not spending time with her niece and nephew, she’s listening to music, singing along, and attending music festivals. She loves snuggling with her fur babies.

Loves of her Life:
Lauren lives in Indy with her family and says, “my kids have paws”. Piper (Pit/Boxer mix) has to share the love and couch space with her three cat siblings, Coco, Cutter, and Pip.

Veterinary Assistant

Education:
Currently pursuing a BS in Biology from Purdue/IUPUI

Personal + Professional:
Maria came to City Way Animal Clinics in 2018, but has been a veterinary assistant since 2007! She has a special interest in animal behavior and is Fear-Free Certified. When she’s not snuggling her cats, she’s gaming (WOW + Guild Wars II), playing Dungeons & Dragons, or lurking Reddit. Maria is learning digital illustration and loves hiking, reading, and yoga.

Loves of her Life:
Maria and her husband, Andy, share a home with one dog named Finn and six cats, Ferdinand, Rufus, Pug, Darwin, Evie, and Orion.

Customer Service Representative

Personal + Professional:
Leslie came to City Way Animal Clinics in 2019 with an abundance of experience and has been working in the animal care industry since 1985. When she’s not talking to clients on the phone, she’s practicing nature photography, going to concerts, and spoiling her pup, Hammy.

Loves of her Life:
Leslie gives all her love to Hammy (Poodle/Shih-Tzu mix) and Wren (cat). Hammy and Wren are besties. Hammy enjoys the outdoors and showing his kitten sister the ropes.
